ABU DHABI, 14th May, 2025 (WAM) -- The Global Council for Tolerance and Peace has welcomed the decision by US President Donald Trump to lift sanctions imposed on Syria, describing it as a timely move and an important step towards restoring stability and building a brighter future for the country.
Ahmed bin Mohamed Al Jarwan, President of the Council, affirmed that this development reflects growing awareness of the importance of supporting the peaceful path in Syria in a way that serves the interests of the Syrian people, as well as regional and international development and stability. He noted that the decision will enable Syria to become a platform for dialogue, coexistence, and progress.
He praised the active role played by Arab leaders in creating the conditions for such a decision and advancing efforts towards political solutions that reinforce regional stability.
Al Jarwan added that the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace, which works to promote a culture of tolerance and advance peace worldwide, views the decision as a beacon of hope for Syria's reintegration into its Arab and international spheres. He called on the international community to continue supporting efforts to achieve just and lasting peace in the region.
