SHARJAH,13th May 2025 (WAM) -- The players from Sharjah Women's Sports Club (SWSC) celebrated a fantastic achievement at the UAE Athletics Cup for Citizens, which took place at the Dubai Police Officers Club.
The event included teams from Abu Dhabi Athletics Club and Emirates Cultural and Sports Club.
There were exciting competitions in three age groups: Under 13, Under 16, and Under 19. Sharjah Club stood out by winning both the U13 Cup and the U16 Cup, showcasing an impressive performance that earned them a total of 28 medals: 10 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze.
Sarah Fahad had an outstanding performance, winning two gold medals in the under-13 category by finishing first in both the 200-meter hurdles and the 300-metre race. In the 200-metre hurdles, Rawda Al-Jaberi took home a silver medal, while Maria Fahad earned a bronze.
Alia Khaled Saeed also shined, winning gold in the 80-metre race and silver in the 300-metre race. Fawaghi Hamid secured a bronze medal in the 300-meter event as well.
In the jumping events, Samar Saleh excelled, winning gold medals in both the long jump and high jump. Reem Youssef followed with a silver medal in the high jump. In the throwing competitions, Hanan Ibrahim dominated by winning gold in both the shot put and discus throw.
Maryam Issa added to the excitement by winning a bronze medal in the discus throw. Maitha Juma and Ahed Mohammed performed well, earning silver and bronze medals in shot put, respectively, while Alyazia Tariq Juma completed the throwing events with a bronze medal in the hammer throw.
The athletes from the club showcased their outstanding talent in the Under-16 division, with Reem Youssef taking home two gold medals in the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-metre race. Khadija Mohammed also made her mark by winning a bronze medal in the 100-meter race.
In the jumping events, Suad Al Jallaf earned a bronze medal in the long jump and a silver medal in the high jump. Nada Nasr also impressed by winning a bronze medal in the same high jump event. When it came to throwing competitions, Raya Moamen struck gold in the shot put and won silver in the discus throw. Her teammate, Maryam Murad, secured a silver medal in the shot put and a bronze in the discus, while Alyazia Tariq Abdul Salam grabbed a bronze in the shot put. Additionally, Sheikha Fahad Al Mazmi received silver in the hammer throw.
Hind Al Kabawi, the Technical Director of Athletics at the Sharjah Women's Sports Club, praised the athletes for their amazing performance during the tournament. She highlighted that their results are a testament to their dedication and teamwork. "The players have once again shown their exceptional skills, earning both the U13 and U16 Cups, which reflects our team's ongoing success and improvement," she said.
This impressive accomplishment showcases Sharjah Women's Sports Club's strong position in the upcoming 2024-2025 athletics season. Their success is fueled by a forward-thinking approach that blends expert training with supportive resources, paving the way for a new wave of champions in Olympic sports.
