DUBAI, 30th April, 2025 (WAM) -- Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has received the Sustainable Stand Award at Arabian Travel Market 2025, held at Dubai World Trade Centre, in recognition of its data-driven and environmentally conscious exhibition design.
An independent panel of judges commended DET for constructing 84 percent of its stand from reused materials, using 100 percent locally sourced sustainable resources, and achieving a 10 percent reduction in carbon emissions.
The food and beverage menu featured seasonal, plant-based, and locally sourced items, served with sustainable packaging and portion control to minimise waste. DET also used QR codes and digital brochures in place of printed materials and limited giveaways to eco-friendly items.
Abu Dhabi and Qatar destination stands were also highly commended for their sustainable initiatives.
In other categories, Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism won Best Stand Design (over 150sqm) for its authentic display, including traditional handicrafts and local cuisine. HeyTrip International won Best Stand Design (50-150sqm), praised for its efficient use of space and vibrant colour palette. FlyAkeed earned Best Stand Design (under 50sqm) for its use of LED lighting to create a futuristic visual impact.
Kerzner International received the Best Stand for Doing Business Award for its functional and welcoming layout, with ground floor meeting areas and private spaces upstairs. A.A. Al Moosa won Best Use of Technology for its interactive digital display and 3D visual features. The Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board took the Best Stand Feature Award for its dynamic stage showcasing cultural music and dance.
Judges included representatives from RX Middle East, STR, Oxford Economics, and DXB Live.
Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME at Arabian Travel Market, praised this year's entries for their innovation and attention to sustainability, hospitality and design.
The 32nd edition of ATM, held under the theme Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow's Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity, is welcoming over 55,000 travel professionals from 166 countries, reinforcing Dubai's role as a global tourism and business hub.
