Trump signs proclamation to provide "offset" for tariffs on automobile parts
U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a proclamation allowing a certain level of compensation for automobile manufacturers importing auto parts and assembling cars in the United States, reflecting the growing opposition to tariff policies across various sectors.
The 25-percent tariff on imported automobiles previously announced took effect on April 3, while the 25-percent tariff on automobile parts is scheduled to take effect on May 3.
The latest measure offers an "offset" to a portion of tariffs for automobile parts used in U.S.-assembled vehicles equal to 3.75 percent of the manufacturer's suggested retail price of a manufacturer's U.S. production for the next year, and 2.5 percent of U.S. production the year after.

Sabotage unlikely cause of deadly blast at Iranian port: governor
Governor of the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan Mohammad Ashouri Taziani refuted on Tuesday the hypothesis that an act of sabotage was behind a deadly blast at Shahid Rajaee Port in the province.
He made the remarks while elaborating on the likely causes of the explosion that occurred on Saturday and its subsequent fire, in which at least 70 people were killed and over 1,200 others injured, the official news agency IRNA reported.
Ahsouri Taziani said some foreign media raised the speculation that the incident had probably been the result of an act of sabotage, but preliminary investigations showed that the sabotage hypothesis failed to be of "sufficient strength."
He added that according to a statement by the provincial crisis management headquarters, a failure to properly observe safety and passive defense measures had been among the main causes of the incident.

Spanish authorities are investigating the deaths of seven individuals believed to be linked to a widespread power outage that affected Spain and Portugal on Monday.
The fatalities occurred under different circumstances, all potentially connected to the blackout.
Iberian blackout triggers Europe-wide response, probe underway
Power has been restored across most of Spain and Portugal after a massive blackout plunged the Iberian Peninsula into darkness on Monday, crippling transport, halting daily life, and exposing vulnerability in Europe's energy network.
The worst power outage in the region's history left tens of millions without electricity and briefly extended into southern France. The incident has sparked a swift emergency response from European grid operators and ignited concerns about the resilience and security of the continent's interconnected power systems.
An investigation into the exact cause of the blackout remains underway.
Three killed in shooting in Uppsala, Sweden
Three individuals were killed in a shooting in the central Swedish town of Uppsala on Tuesday, with many witnesses present at the scene, Swedish media reported.
Police confirmed at 7:25 p.m. (1725 GMT) on their website that the incident is being investigated as a murder.
The shooting occurred near the Vaksala market area in downtown Uppsala. The suspect fled the scene. Police have cordoned off a large area, and railroad services from Uppsala were temporarily suspended but later resumed, according to Swedish Television (SVT).
Swedish Minister for Justice Gunnar Strommer described the incident as "a brutal act of violence."
Syrian authorities, local leaders reach deal to end sectarian clashes near Damascus
Syrian authorities and local community leaders in the Damascus suburb of Jaramana reached an agreement on Tuesday to restore calm after recent deadly sectarian clashes.
The agreement, announced in a joint statement by the two sides following a high-level meeting and carried by state news agency SANA, includes four key points: guaranteeing compensation for victims' families, holding accountable those responsible for the violence, clarifying the truth to curb sectarian incitement, and ensuring safe travel between Damascus and al-Suwayda provinces.
The meeting brought together representatives of Rural Damascus, prominent Druze sheikhs, and figures from Jaramana's local and civil societies. Authorities said the agreement would be implemented immediately under the supervision of relevant government bodies.
The agreement followed intense clashes early Tuesday between local armed groups and unidentified gunmen from outside Jaramana. The clashes were reportedly sparked by the online circulation of an audio recording deemed offensive to Islam, allegedly made by a member of the Druze community.
According to the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, at least 14 people were killed in the fighting, including seven residents of Jaramana and seven others aligned with the Syrian military forces, and the number of injuries, which had reached 15, is likely to rise.
Two-State solution "is near a point of no return," warns UN chief
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Tuesday that the two-State solution to the Palestinian question "is near a point of no return."
In remarks to the UN Security Council open debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, Guterres said the region is undergoing fundamental shifts, marked by violence and volatility but also opportunity and potential, and "truly sustainable Middle East peace hinges on one central question" -- a two-state solution, Israel and Palestine, living side-by-side in peace and security, with Jerusalem as the capital of both states.
But the promise of a two-State solution today is "at risk of dwindling to the point of disappearance" and "the political commitment to this long-standing goal is farther than it has ever been," he said.
China's Shenzhou-19 spaceship separates from space station combination
China's Shenzhou-19 crewed spaceship separated from the space station combination at 4 a.m. (Beijing Time) on Wednesday, and the astronauts aboard -- Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze -- started to return to Earth, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).
The spaceship is scheduled to return to the Dongfeng landing site in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Wednesday.
The CMSA said that prior to the separation, the Shenzhou-19 crew, with the assistance of the ground staff, completed various tasks such as setting the status of the space station combination, processing and transmitting the experimental data, and transferring remaining supplies. The Shenzhou-19 crew also carried out handover work and exchanged in-orbit work experience with the Shenzhou-20 crew.
The return of the Shenzhou-19 crewed spaceship, originally scheduled for Tuesday, had been postponed due to unfavorable windy weather at the Dongfeng landing site, according to the CMSA.
