BEIRUT, 22nd April, 2025 (WAM) -- Joseph Aoun, President of the Republic of Lebanon, received Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today at the Presidential Palace in Baabda, as part of Ghobash's official visit to the Republic of Lebanon.

Ghobash conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, to the Lebanese President, along with their wishes for his success in leading Lebanon and for continued progress and prosperity for the country and its people.

For his part, President Joseph Aoun conveyed his greetings to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and expressed his wishes for continued development and prosperity for the UAE and its people.

The Lebanese President welcomed Ghobash and affirmed the importance of the visit in strengthening cooperation between the two countries, underscoring the pivotal role of parliamentary institutions in advancing bilateral relations to support development and meet the aspirations of both peoples.

He also expressed appreciation for the UAE's longstanding support for Lebanon and its people, which reflects the depth of fraternal ties and embodies the principles of historical brotherhood.

The meeting also addressed regional and international developments, with both sides exchanging views on the latest issues on both fronts. They stressed the importance of promoting global peace, security and stability, and supporting all efforts to ensure a better future for the world's populations.

Both parties affirmed the deep-rooted and fraternal relations between the UAE and Lebanon, highlighting the extensive cultural, economic and social ties binding the two nations.

They emphasised the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation to serve the mutual interests of both peoples and reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to supporting Lebanon's security, stability and prosperity.
