Washington [US], March 19 (ANI): Actress Gal Gadot has made it clear that she prefers to keep her political views out of the spotlight, especially in light of the controversy surrounding the upcoming live-action 'Snow White' movie.
In a recent interview with Variety, the Israeli star explained that following the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack on Israel, she made a conscious decision to refrain from discussing politics publicly.
'I'm an artist. I want to entertain people,' Gadot, shared, adding, 'I want to bring hope and be a beacon of light whenever I say anything about the world.'
She continued by expressing that celebrity opinions on politics are often irrelevant to the public and said, 'Because who cares about the celebrity talking about politics?'
Her remarks come amid rising tensions surrounding the 'Snow White' remake, which she stars in as the Evil Queen.
Alongside Gadot, actress Rachel Zegler portrays the titular princess, and according to People magazine, a source has claimed that their differing political views may be contributing to the tension between the two stars.
The source told People magazine on March 14 that while Zegler, 23, and Gadot may not share many similarities, including their differing political ideologies, the two actresses remain professionally cordial.
A source familiar with the situation explained that Gadot had never planned to attend the European premiere of 'Snow White' in Spain on March 12, noting that she was doing press in New York City instead.
'This isn't like a 'stay away from me' situation,' the source said, adding that both actresses had appeared together at the Oscars and would continue their joint promotional efforts in the near future.
According to People magazine, the age gap between the two actresses and their distinct political views have also been highlighted as factors contributing to the reported tensions.
Gadot, who served in the Israel Defense Forces, has been vocal in advocating for the release of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas.
In contrast, Zegler has expressed support for Palestinians in the ongoing Gaza conflict.
As per People magazine, in her conversation with Variety, Gadot reflected on the personal nature of her political views, citing her family history as a key reason for her strong stance on human rights.
'I'm a grandchild of a Holocaust survivor who came to Israel and established his family from scratch after his entire family was erased in Auschwitz,' she said, adding, 'And on the other side of my family, I'm eighth-generation Israeli. I'm an indigenous person of Israel.'
Gadot also made it clear that her advocacy for Israeli hostages was driven by her belief in humanity.
'I am all about humanity, and I felt like I had to advocate for the hostages,' she said, per People magazine.
She added, 'I know what I'm advocating for, and I know what I wish for the world. I am praying for better days for all. I want everybody to have a good life and prosperity and the ability to raise their children in a safe environment.' (ANI)
