TOKYO, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dropped Friday morning, as worse-than-expected earnings reports from Japanese firms hit sentiment amid mounting global COVID-19 concerns.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 185.57 points, or 0.80 percent, from Thursday to 23,146.37.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 20.71 points, or 1.29 percent, at 1,590.22.
Pharmaceutical, securities house and consumer credit issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
