Hollywood A-listers Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith and Melanie Griffith opened their wallets for President Barack Obama's campaign in the last three months of 2011, according to federal filings released earlier this week.
The other Hollywood donors who ponied up for the president include Peter Fonda and his daughter Bridget; Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon; Richard Dean Anderson, who's best known as "MacGyver;" Ed Harris, Tate Donovan and Hilary Duff of the Disney Channel's "Lizzie McGuire" show.
Wendell Pierce, who played William "Bunk" Moreland in the HBO drama "The Wire", soap opera star Deidre Hall and Jada Pinkett Smith are among the other actors who helped the Obama campaign haul in a hefty 40 million dollars in the last three months of the year, the Politico reported.
It's not the first time stars have donated for Obama. A slew of other famous actors including George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Sharon Stone and Alec Baldwin lined the president's campaign coffers earlier last year.
Michelle Obama attended a fundraising event in Beverly Hills this week filled with Hollywood insiders that brought in nearly 1 million dollars for her husband's re-election campaign, according to the Hollywood Reporter. (ANI)
